Marta Blangiardo

Professor of Biostatistics

Imperial College London

Biography

I am a professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and I lead the Biostatistics and Data Science theme of the MRC Centre for Environment and Health. I am part-time seconded at the Turing Institute, working with the RSS-TURING lab to provide accurate estimates of COVID-19 incidence and prevalence at Local Authority level. Since 2017 I hold an honorary academic appointment with PHE (now UKHSA).

My main interests are related on the methodological aspects of environmental exposure estimation and on spatial and spatio-temporal models for disease mapping and for risk assessment.

I have co-authored a book on the Integrated Nested Laplace approximation (INLA) for spatial and spatio-temporal applications: Spatial and Spatio-Temporal Bayesian Models with R-INLA
